
ABOUT
I (Jo Wilson) created Breaking Barriers Fitness Coaching more than 10 years ago because I wanted to share the benefits of what kickboxing and fitness have given me and I want to share it with the local community.

Over the past 20 years kickboxing has allowed me to feel Empowered, Confident, Fit, Strong and Resilient.
​
It reminded me of WHO I was and WHAT I was capable of.
I saw a real gap in the market for people who wanted to learn the skills of kickboxing and feel the adrenaline and empowerment it brings without being constrained by a Grading System, Intimidated by the Combat Sport format or pigeon holed into "Fitness Boxing".

My ongoing education and desire to provide something unique and practical has led me to follow my passion for Personal Safety which now forms the foundations of what I teach within the kickboxing arena.

The need for an Embodied approach within the Martial Arts and Fitness Industries has led me to create a uniquely safe and empowering environment aimed at helping you bring your body and mind back into balance.

I help people build real-world skills that work in the body, mind, and emotions — so you can respond with clarity, confidence, and calm under pressure.
My approach focuses on the whole person, starting from the bottom up, and adapts to wherever you are in your journey.
I bring over 20 years of martial arts experience — including boxing, kickboxing, and combatives — along with certifications in Personal Training and Embodied Processing.
Everything I teach is practical, grounded, and designed to help you feel capable, present, and in control. And yes, we have a bit of fun along the way, because growth and strength shouldn’t feel like a chore.
